Boston Whaler has launched two new center consoles, the 290 Outrage and the 330 Outrage, both built on its patented WhalerStep hull. They made their debut at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and Brunswick, which owns Boston Whaler, said on 5 November that they drew strong show sales and contracts for 2027 production slots.
What's new on the 290 and 330
Whaler says the WhalerStep hull gives a smoother, drier ride and better fuel efficiency, with a flatter running angle and less bow rise, while a full-length skeg keeps the stable feel Outrage owners expect. Both boats have an automotive-style helm with Simrad electronics. The 330 gets a Simrad NSS 4 display.

Specifications from Boston Whaler's model pages. The 290 has a wraparound bow lounge, a hardtop with a full-glass windshield and an aft bench that folds away to open up the cockpit for fishing. The 330 adds a 44-gallon centerline livewell and a bait-prep station, with a second 21-gallon livewell in an optional leaning post.
The show
Brunswick said Boston Whaler's revenue at this year's show beat its 2025 figure, despite bad weather that cut attendance, especially at the weekend. It also said Mercury outboards made up about 62 per cent of all outboards on display and about 78 per cent of those in the in-water exhibit, both records. Those are Brunswick's own figures.
Reading a Boston Whaler HIN
Boston Whaler hull numbers start with BWC, which the Coast Guard's manufacturer register lists as Boston Whaler Inc of Edgewater, Florida. A real example from a Coast Guard recall record is BWCE1053K819: BWC is the builder, E1053 the hull serial, K means it was built in November, and 819 says built in 2018 and sold as a 2019 model. A late-year build with the next model year is normal; builders start the new season in the autumn. The Boston Whaler HIN decoder breaks down any Whaler hull number, including the older formats.
The Coast Guard's recall database lists four Boston Whaler campaigns. The most recent, opened in January 2019, is for a model recorded as 190OR. A campaign on record means some boats of that model and year were recalled, not that a particular hull was. If you're shopping for a used Outrage, decode the HIN with the free HIN decoder first, then run the boat recall check and check the outboards by their own serial numbers, as how to check an outboard for recalls explains.
Check the boat, not just the listing
Type the 12-character hull number from the transom. The decoder reads the builder, build month and model year, and the recall lookup lists any US Coast Guard recall campaign on record for that manufacturer. Free, no account.
